Hadith First kalima

There are several Hadith that highlight the importance and benefits of reciting the First Kalima (Tayyibah): “La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah”. Below are a few examples:

• It has been narrated on the authority of Abdullah b. ’Umar that the Messenger of Allah said:

“I have been commanded to fight against people until they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, they establish prayer, and pay Zakat. If they do it, their blood and property are guaranteed protection on my behalf except when justified by law, and their affairs rest with Allah.”

(Sahih Muslim 22)

• Narrated by Abu Huraira:

“Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, ’If one says one hundred times in one day: “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Alone Who has no partners, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things,” one will get the reward of freeing ten slaves, one hundred good deeds will be written in his account, one hundred bad deeds will be erased, and he will be protected from Satan from morning till evening.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari 3293)

• Abu Huraira also reported:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ’He who recites: “There is no god but Allah, the One, having no partner. Sovereignty belongs to Him, and all praise is due to Him, and He is Potent over everything,” one hundred times every day, receives the reward of freeing ten slaves, and one hundred virtues are recorded for him, while one hundred sins are erased, and it serves as protection from Satan for that day until evening.”

(Sahih Muslim 2691)
