Dua for Wisdom (Hikmah): In Islam, hikmah means wisdom—the ability to use knowledge wisely and make good, fair decisions. It’s seen as a gift from Allah, helping people live rightly and benefiting others.

The Qur’an encourages believers to seek hikmah as a noble attribute. One famous verse that emphasizes the importance of hikmah is:

“He grants wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been granted wisdom has certainly been given much good.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:269)

Dua for Wisdom (Hikmah) in Arabic

Hikmah is one of the highest blessings a believer can attain, enabling them to live a life pleasing to Allah and beneficial to humanity.

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Rabbi zidni ‘ilma.”

“My Lord, increase me in knowledge.”

(Quran 20:114)

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ

وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ

Rabbī hab lī ḥukman wa’alḥiqnī biṣṣāliḥīn

waj’al lī lisāna ṣidqin fī al-ākhirīn

waj’alnī min warathati jannati anna’īm

“My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous.

And grant me a reputation of truthfulness among the later generations.

And make me among the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss.”

(Surah Ash Shu’ara verse 83,84,85)

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِى صَدْرِى, وَيَسِّرْ لِى أَمْرِى, وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِى, يَفْقَهُواْ قَوْلِي

Rabbish rahli sadri, wa yassirli amri, wahlul uqdatan min lisaani, yaf kahu kauli.

“My Lord, expand my chest for me, and make my task easy for me, and untie the knot from my tongue, so that they may understand my speech.”

(Surah Taha 20:25-28)
