Arabic Text | اللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي، لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِيْ وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَىَّ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِيْ، فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ |
Transliteration | Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana abduk, wa ana ala ahdika wa wa’dika mas-tata’t, a’udhu bika min sharri ma sana’t, aboo-o laka bini’matika ‘alay, wa aboo-o bithanbee, faghfir lee fa innahu la yaghfiru dhunuba illa ant. |
Meaning in English | “O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave. I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favours You have bestowed upon me and confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon.” |

Narrated by Shaddad bin Aus:
The Prophet (SAW) said, “The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is:
‘Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana ala ahdika wa wadika mastatatu, A’udhu bika min Sharri ma sana’t, abu’u Laka bini’matika alaiya, wa abu’u laka bidhanbi, faghfir lee fa innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta.”
He added, “If someone recites it during the day with firm faith and dies before evening, they will be from the people of Paradise; if recited at night with firm faith and dies before morning, they will be from the people of Paradise.”
(Sahih Bukhari 6306)

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
“By Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times in a day.”

Forgiveness for the Sincere
Narrated Abu Huraira:
I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, “If somebody commits a sin and then says, ‘O my Lord! I have sinned, please forgive me!’ and his Lord says, ‘My slave has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for it, I therefore have forgiven my slave (his sins).’

Allah commands:
And O my people! Seek your Lord’s forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. He will shower you with rain in abundance, and add strength to your strength. So do not turn away, persisting in wickedness.”Surah Hud (11:52)

Surah Al-Ahzab (33:35), Allah describes the qualities of the righteous:
Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them, Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward. Surah Al-Ahzab (33:35)
