Surah Al-Asr is a short Meccan surah that takes its name from the first word, which means “the declining day” or late afternoon. It was reported by Sayyidna Ubaidullah Ibn Hisn (رض) that whenever two Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) met, they would recite Surah Al-Asr before parting (At-Tabarani).
