Dua for Protection From Sihr Hasad and Shirk

Dua for Protection From Sihr Hasad and Shirk

Dua for Protection From Sihr Hasad and Shirk are powerful supplications from the Quran and Sunnah that offer protection from forces like sihr (black magic), hasad (envy), and shirk (associating partners with Allah). These negative influences can affect a believer’s well-being and may distance them from their faith. In Islam, reciting these duas with sincerity is essential to safeguard one’s spiritual health and seek Allah’s protection from harm.

Meaning of Sihr (Witchcraft):

In Islam, sihr means witchcraft or magic. It involves secret actions that confuse people by making them see or believe things that aren’t real. Sihr tricks people, making them think something harmful is happening or causing them to lose money through deception.

Meaning of Hasad (Envy):

Hasad is an Arabic word that means feeling unhappy when someone else has something good, like a blessing or happiness. It involves wanting that good thing to be taken away from them or wanting it for yourself. We often use the word “envy” to describe this feeling in English.

Meaning of Shirk:

In Islam, shirk means associating anyone or anything with Allah, like believing that someone is equal to Allah. It is often called “idolatry” or “polytheism.” Shirk is a major sin and is treated the same as disbelief (kufr).

Examples:

• Worshiping someone or something other than Allah.
• Making a promise or offering a sacrifice to anyone besides Allah.
• Thinking anyone or anything other than Allah can help or harm.
• Believing that anyone or anything besides Allah can make your wishes come true.
• Thinking that other laws are better or more important than Allah’s laws.
• Believing that anyone other than Allah can give life or cause death.

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem
Qul a’oozu bi-rabbi-l-falaq Min sharri ma khalaq Wa min sharri ghasiqin idha waqab Wa min sharri naffathati fil ’uqad Wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Say: “I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak, From the evil of what He has created, And from the evil of darkness when it settles, And from the evil of those who blow in the knots, And from the evil of the envier when he envies.”
لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌLaa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in QadeerNone has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone, who has no partner. His is the dominion and His are the praise, and He is able to do all things.
اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُAllahu laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyoom, laa ta’khuthuhu sinatun wa laa nawm, lahu maa fis-samaawaati wa maafil-‘ardh, man thal-lathee yashfa’u ‘indahu ‘illaa bi’ithnih, ya’lamu maa bayna ‘aydeehim wa maa khalfahum, wa laa yuheetoona bishay’im-min ‘ilmihi ‘illaa bimaa shaa’a, wasi’a kursiyyuhus-samaawaati wal’ardh, wa laa ya’ooduhu hifdhuhumaa, wa Huwal-‘Aliyyul- ‘AdheemAllah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَA’oothu bikalimaatil-laahit-taammaati min sharri maa khalaqI seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

Essential actions for protection from the evil eye:

Recite Al-Mu’awwidhatayn and Surah Ikhlas:

Regularly recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Naas with conviction. Recite these three times in the morning and evening as instructed by the Prophet ﷺ (Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood).

At bedtime, cup your hands, recite these surahs, blow on your hands, and rub them over your body. This habit provides protection and is an excellent practice to teach children (Al-Bukhari).

Say: A’oodhu bi Kalimaatillaahit-Taammaati min Sharri Maa Khalaq:

At night, recite this short dua for protection: “I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.” This only takes a few seconds and acts as a powerful safeguard (Muslim).

Protect Children:

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Al-Hasan and Al-Husain and say: “Your forefather (i.e. Abraham) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Ishmael and Isaac by reciting the following: ‘O Allah! I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil, harmful, envious eye.’ “Sahih al-Bukhari 3371

Pray for Blessings:

Whenever you admire something about yourself, your family, or others, say “Allahumma baarik feehu” (“O Allah, bless him/her/it”). This ensures good intentions and protects against the unintended evil eye. Harm can even come from those who do not intend jealousy, so remember this step in daily life (Sunan Ibn Majah 1906).

Understanding Mashaa’Allah:

While saying “Mashaa’Allah laa quwatta illa billaah” is a common practice, there is no strong hadith linking it directly to protection from the evil eye. However, saying it when appreciating something is beneficial in expressing gratitude to Allah (Quran, 18:39).

Learn Sunnah Cures if Affected:

If affected by the evil eye, follow sunnah treatments, such as Ruqyah (reciting specific ayaat and duas). If the source of the evil eye is known, ask them to perform ablution and pour the water over the affected person.
