This Dua was taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) when Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked what she should say if she found Laylatul Qadr. The Prophet recommended this Dua because it focuses on the most essential act during this night—seeking Allah’s forgiveness.

Hadith

Aishah narrated:

“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is your view if I know when the Night of Al-Qadr is, then what should I say in it?” He said: “Say: O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, You love pardon, so pardon me.” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3513 / Sunan Ibn Majah 3850)

When to Recite

1. During the last ten nights of Ramadan, particularly on odd-numbered nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 29th).

2. In your prayers (salah), especially during sujood (prostration) or after finishing the prayer.

3. Anytime outside Ramadan when seeking Allah’s forgiveness.

4. During quiet moments of reflection, especially on Laylatul Qadr.
