Auzu Bikalimatillahi Tammati Min Sharri Ma Khalaq Meaning

Seeking protection from harm is a common concern, and Islam offers powerful duas (supplications) to ensure safety from physical and spiritual dangers. One such supplication is Auzu Bikalimatillahi Tammati Min Sharri Ma Khalaq.

When someone recites Auzu Bikalimatillahi Tammati Min Sharri Ma Khalaq, Allah protects them from harm, whether it’s a snake bite, scorpion sting, or any danger, until they leave that place.

Auzu Bikalimatillahi Tammati Min Sharri-Hadith

1. Protection from a Scorpion Sting:

A man once came to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and said, “O Messenger of Allah, I was stung by a scorpion last night.” The Prophet (ﷺ) responded, “Had you recited these words in the evening, it would not have harmed you: A’udhu bikalimatillahi tammati min sharri ma khalaq.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2709)

2. Prophet’s Teaching for Hasan and Husain:

The Prophet (ﷺ) would recite a similar dua for his grandsons, Hasan and Husain, seeking refuge in Allah’s perfect words. He said:
“I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil, poisonous creature, and evil eye.” The Prophet (ﷺ) also mentioned that Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) used this dua for his sons, Isma’il and Ishaq.
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3525)
