Benefits and Translation of Ayatul Kursi in English PDF
Introduction
“Ayatul Kursi” literally means “Throne of Allah.” It is the 255th verse in Surah Al-Baqarah of the Quran. You can find it in the 3rd Para (تِلْكَ الرُّسُلُ) of the Holy Quran, and it is often called the “Throne Verse.” Saying and thinking about it daily is an important practice for all Muslims.

| لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ | Lā ta’khudhuhu sinatu walā nawmun | Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. |
| لَهُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ | Lahu mā fī as-samāwāti wa mā fī al-arḍ | To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. |
| مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ | Man dhā alladhī yashfa’u ‘indahu illā bi-idhnih | Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? |
| يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ | Ya’lamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum | He knows what is before them and what will be after them. |
| وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ | Wa lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shay’in min ‘ilmihi illā bimā shā’a | And they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. |
| وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ | Wasi’a kursīyuhu as-samāwāti wal-arḍ | His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, |
| وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا | Wa lā ya’uduhu ḥifẓuhumā | and their preservation tires Him not. |
| وَهُوَ ٱلْعَلِيُّ ٱلْكَبِيرُ | Wa huwa Al-‘Aliyyu Al-Kabīr | And He is the Most High, the Most Great. |

Hadith
Narrated Abu Umamah (RA):
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi at the end of every obligatory prayer, nothing but death will prevent him from entering Paradise.” [An-Nasa’i reported it, and Ibn Hibban graded it Sahih (authentic). Book2,Hadith 220]
Al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ lil-Ṭabarānī 8068
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody came to me and started stealing from the foodstuff. I caught him and said, “I will take you to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)!” Then Abu Huraira described the whole narration and said: That person said (to me), “(Please don’t take me to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you.) When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn.” (When the Prophet (ﷺ) heard the story) he said (to me), “He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; and it was Satan.”

When to Recite Ayat al-Kursi
1. After Obligatory Prayers: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to recite Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer. Doing this is a Sunnah (a practice of the Prophet) and can help you gain easy access to Paradise on the Day of Judgment.

5. To Protect Your Home: Reciting Surah Al-Baqarah in your home protects it from evil spirits and sorcery. Since Ayat al-Kursi is part of Surah Al-Baqarah, it is especially effective. If no one reads Surah Al-Baqarah in the house, reciting Ayat al-Kursi regularly is beneficial, but it does not replace the need to recite the entire Surah.
