Hadith

Narrated Abu Umamah (RA):

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi at the end of every obligatory prayer, nothing but death will prevent him from entering Paradise.” [An-Nasa’i reported it, and Ibn Hibban graded it Sahih (authentic). Book2,Hadith 220]

Al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ lil-Ṭabarānī 8068

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody came to me and started stealing from the foodstuff. I caught him and said, “I will take you to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)!” Then Abu Huraira described the whole narration and said: That person said (to me), “(Please don’t take me to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you.) When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn.” (When the Prophet (ﷺ) heard the story) he said (to me), “He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; and it was Satan.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5010

When to Recite Ayat al-Kursi

1. After Obligatory Prayers: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to recite Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer. Doing this is a Sunnah (a practice of the Prophet) and can help you gain easy access to Paradise on the Day of Judgment.

2. Before Sleeping: It’s recommended to recite Ayat al-Kursi before sleeping. This verse protects you while you sleep.

3. In the Morning: There is a story from the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) involving Ubay ibn Ka’b and a jinn that highlights the importance of reciting Ayatul-Kursi in the morning for spiritual strength.

4. For Spiritual Healing: Ayatul-Kursi is a powerful verse for spiritual healing. It can be recited for yourself, loved ones, or anyone seeking relief from spiritual issues (known as ruqyah).

5. To Protect Your Home: Reciting Surah Al-Baqarah in your home protects it from evil spirits and sorcery. Since Ayat al-Kursi is part of Surah Al-Baqarah, it is especially effective. If no one reads Surah Al-Baqarah in the house, reciting Ayat al-Kursi regularly is beneficial, but it does not replace the need to recite the entire Surah.

6. During Nightmares: If you experience nightmares or scary dreams, you might find yourself reciting Ayat al-Kursi without even thinking about it. This verse often comes to mind in frightening situations, reflecting how important it is to you.

7. In Times of Need: Ayatul-Kursi is a key verse for protection during tough times. You should recite it whenever you need safety or feel anxious.

Benefits of Reciting Ayat al-Kursi

1. Greatest Verse: It is considered the greatest verse in the Quran because it beautifully describes Allah and His many names and attributes.

3. Spiritual Healing: It is used for Ruqyah, which is spiritual protection from jinn, the evil eye, and magic. It helps to keep your home safe and peaceful.

4. Access to Paradise: Reciting this verse can lead to a person’s entry into Paradise.

5. Daily Practice: It is encouraged to recite Ayat al-Kursi regularly, especially after daily prayers and in your home, to create a protective atmosphere.

6. Reassurance and Calm: Saying Ayat al-Kursi can bring peace and comfort, especially during anxious times or when facing difficulties.

7. Confirmed Truth: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) confirmed the benefits of reciting Ayat al-Kursi, emphasizing its importance and the truth of its protective qualities.
