1. Surah Al-Isra (17:24)

رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Rabbir hamhuma kama Rabbayani Sagheera

“My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.”

2. Surah Ibrahim (14:41)

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ

Rabbana ighfir li wa liwalidayya walil mu’mineena yawma yaqoomul hisaab

“Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day the account is established.”

3. Surah Nuh (71:28)

Rabbana-ghfirlī wa liwālidayya wa liman dakhola baytī mu’minan wa-lilmu’minīna wal-mu’mināt

4. Surah An-Naml (27:19)

رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

Rabbi awzi’nī an ashkura ni’matakal-latī an’amta ‘alayya wa ‘ala wālidayya wa an a’mala salihan tardhāhu wa adkhilnī birahmatika fī ‘ibādikas-soliheen

“My Lord, inspire me to (always) be thankful for the blessings You have granted me and my parents, and to do good deeds that please You; admit me by Your grace into the ranks of Your righteous servants.”

5. Dua for Mother

اللهم ارزوق امي بركات في عمريه

Allahumma’arzuk ummi barakatan fi umreeha

“Oh Allah, make my mother’s life filled with blessings.”

Though not from a hadith, asking for blessings and health for our parents is highly encouraged in Islam.

Hadith on the Status of Parents

A well-known hadith emphasizes the importance of honoring one’s parents:

A man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked:

“O Messenger of Allah! Who is the most deserving of my good companionship?”

The Prophet replied: “Your mother.”

The man asked: “Then who?”

The Prophet said: “Your mother.”

The man asked again: “Then who?”

The Prophet said: “Your mother.”

The man asked: “Then who?”

The Prophet finally said: “Your father.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari 5971, Sahih Muslim 2548)

This hadith highlights the high status of mothers in Islam and shows that making dua for them is part of honoring and respecting them.

The importance of making Duas for our parents is beautifully emphasized in several Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). He said, “When a man dies, all his good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him” (Sahih Muslim).
