Dhikr of Allah SWT in Arabic

Subhaan Allah – Glorious is God
Alhamdu lillah – Praises are due to Allah
Allah hu Akbar – Allah is the greatest

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

If anyone extols Allah after every prayer thirty-three times, and praises Allah thirty-three times, and declares His Greatness thirty-three times, ninety-nine times in all, and says to complete a hundred:”

There is no god but Allah, having no partner with Him, to Him belongs sovereignty and to Him is praise due, and He is Potent over everything,” his sins will be forgiven even If these are as abundant as the foam of the sea.

Sahih Muslim 597

  • None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Alone Who has no partners, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things (i.e. Omnipotent)

Derivation

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If one says one-hundred times in one day: “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Alone Who has no partners, to Him belongs Dominion and to Him belong all the Praises, and He has power over all things (i.e. Omnipotent)”, one will get the reward of manumitting ten slaves.

And one-hundred good deeds will be written in his account, and one-hundred bad deeds will be wiped off or erased from his account, and on that day he will be protected from the morning till evening from Satan, and nobody will be superior to him except one who has done more than that which he has done.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 3293

  • Allahumma A’inni Ala Zikrika Wa Shukrika Wa Husni Ibadatika
  • O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner.

The Dua Allahumma A’inni Ala Zikrika Wa Shukrika Wa Husni Ibadatika was taught by our Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) to recite after every Salah. Consider reading the following Sahih Hadith.

Derivation

Mu’adh (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took hold of my hand and said, “O Mu’adh! By Allah I love you, so I advise you to never forget to recite after every prayer:

“Allahumma a’inni ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni ‘ibadatika (O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner).”

[Abu Dawud].

  • Allaahumma laa maani’a lima a’tayta wa la mu’tiya lima mana’ta, walaa yanfa’u dhal-jaddi minkal-jaddu
  • O Allah! None can deny that which You bestow and none can bestow that which You hold back; and the greatness of the great will be of no avail to them against You.

(There is no true god except Allah, the One, Who has no partner. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Able to do everything. O Allah! Nobody can withhold what You give; and nobody can give what You withhold; and the high status of a person is of no avail against Your Will).”)

  • Allahumma Inni As’aluka Bi Anni Ashhadu Annaka Antalllah, La Ilaha Illa Anta Al-Ahadus-Samadu, Alladhi Lam Yalid Wa Lam Yulad, Wa Lam Yakun Lahu Kufuwan Ahad
  • O Allah, indeed, I ask you by my testifying that You are Allah, there is none worthy of worship except You, the One, As-Samad, the one who does not beget, nor was begotten, and there is none who is like Him

Derivation

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Buraidah that his father said:

“The Prophet (saas) heard a man say: ‘Allahumma! Inni as’aluka bi-annaka Antallahul-Ahadus-Samad, alladhi lam yalid wa lam yuwlud, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad (O Allah! I ask You by virtue of Your being Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who begets not nor was begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable to Him).’

The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: ‘He has asked Allah by His Greatest Name, which if He is asked thereby He gives, and if He is called upon thereby He answers.'”

  • None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without a partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent. There is no might nor power except with Allah, none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and we worship none except Him. For Him is all favor, grace, and glorious praise.

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah and we are sincere in faith and devotion to Him although the disbelievers detest it.

Derivation

Abu Zubair reported:

Ibn Zubair uttered at the end of every prayer after pronouncing salutation (these words):” There is no god but Allah. He is alone. There is no partner with Him. Sovereignty belongs to Him and He is Potent over everything. There is no might or power except with Allah. There is no god but Allah and we do not worship but Him alone.

To Him belong all bounties, to Him belongs all Grace, and to Him is worthy praise. There is no god but Allah, to Whom we are sincere in devotion, even though the unbelievers should disapprove it.” (The narrator said): He (the Holy Prophet) uttered it at the end of every (obligatory) prayer.
