Dua for Adhan PDF: Du’a between Adhan and Iqamah
In Islam, du’as (supplications) hold great significance, and there are special times when making du’a is especially encouraged. One such time is between the Adhan (call to prayer) and Iqamah (second call before prayer begins). Understanding the correct supplications during these times is crucial for practicing Muslims.

Dua for Adhan
After hearing the Adhan, a special du’a is recommended, as narrated by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ، وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّداً الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَاماً مَحْمُوداً الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ، إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ.
Transliteration: Allahumma Rabba hadhihi’l-da’wat il-taammah, wa’l-salat il-qaimah, aati Muhammadan il-wasilata wa’l-fadilah, wab’athhu maqaman mahmudan illadhi wa’adtah, innaka la tukhliful mi’aad.
Meaning: O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer, grant Muhammad the privilege and eminence, and raise him to the honored station You have promised. Verily, You do not break promises.
This du’a should be made after the Adhan, as it ensures the Prophet’s intercession on the Day of Judgment, as narrated by al-Bukhari.
Du’a Between Adhan and Iqamah (Supplication During Adhan)
In Islam, du’as (supplications) hold immense importance, and there are specific moments when making du’a is highly encouraged. One such blessed time is between the Adhan (call to prayer) and Iqamah (the second call before the prayer begins).
This is a period when Muslims are encouraged to engage in du’a, as it is a time when prayers are more likely to be accepted.
Importance of Du’a Between Adhan and Iqamah
It is Sunnah to make du’a between the Adhan and Iqamah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Du’a is not rejected between the Adhan and Iqamah, so engage in supplication.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ahmad).
This makes it a highly recommended time to seek Allah’s blessings, guidance, and mercy.
Key Points for Du’a During Adhan:
- Repeating the words of the Adhan after the Muadhdhin (caller to prayer) is Sunnah.
- When the Muadhdhin says “Hayya ‘ala’s-salah” (Come to prayer) and “Hayya ‘ala’l-falah” (Come to success), one should respond with “La hawla wa la quwwata illa Billah” (There is no power and no strength except with Allah).
- Following this, it is encouraged to engage in personal du’a, asking Allah for forgiveness, health, sustenance, and success in this life and the Hereafter.
What to Avoid:
- There is no prescribed du’a to be made before the Adhan or Iqamah, and introducing new du’as in these moments without evidence is considered bid’ah (innovation).
- After the Iqamah, no specific du’a is recommended, and making one without evidence is discouraged.
By adhering to these guidelines, Muslims can follow the authentic practices of making du’a during the Adhan and Iqamah, thereby increasing the likelihood of their supplications being accepted.
Should You Say ‘Aqamaha Allah wa adamaha Allah’ During Iqamah?
- The phrase “Aqamaha Allah wa adamaha Allah” is often mistakenly recited when the Muadhdhin says “Qad qamat il-salah” (The prayer is ready). This practice is based on a weak hadith narrated by Abu Dawud. Since the hadith is classified as da’if (weak), it is not recommended to say this phrase during the Iqamah.
