اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلاَلِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

Allahumma akfini bihalalika an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwak.

“O Allah! Grant me enough of what You make lawful so that I may dispense with what You make unlawful, and enable me by Your Grace to dispense with all but You.”

This is a beautiful prayer asking Allah to help us be satisfied with what is allowed and to rely only on Him, without needing anyone else.

Hadith

Karz ki Dua is derived from a hadith narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). The hadith can be found in collections such as Jami’ al-Tirmidhi and Sunan al-Nasa’i.

The Hadith:

Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) taught Ali (RA) this dua and encouraged him to recite it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Shall I not teach you a supplication which, if you say, Allah will take care of your debt even if it is as large as a mountain?”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) then recited:

(Jami` al-Tirmidhi 3563)

This hadith highlights the importance of trusting Allah for lawful provision and the value of being content with what is halal (permissible). The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught this dua to help believers avoid falling into debt and to seek Allah’s help in staying away from haram (forbidden) things or depending on others.
