Meaning of Laa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illa Billah

This phrase is short but powerful. It reminds us that we are not in control of anything, and only Allah can change situations and give us strength. When we say these words, we acknowledge that we are weak and need Allah’s help for everything in life, whether it’s to overcome difficulties, achieve our goals, or make progress.

The phrase is sometimes expanded to “Laa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illa Billahil Aliyyil Azim,” adding more praise to Allah. In this longer form, we recognize Allah as “Aliyyil Azim,” meaning “The Most High, The Greatest.”
