Hadith on Surah Ikhlas
Surah Al-Ikhlas is praised in several hadith for its significance. One such hadith states that reciting it is equivalent to reciting one-third of the Quran.
Surah Al-Ikhlas Equivalent to One-Third of the Quran:
Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to his companions:
“Is one of you incapable of reciting a third of the Quran in a night?” They found this difficult and said:
“Who among us can do that, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied:
“Surah Al-Ikhlas is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.”
Allah Loves the One Who Recites Surah Ikhlas:
Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet (peace be upon him) sent a man in charge of a military expedition, and the man would recite for his companions during prayer, concluding each recitation with Surah Al-Ikhlas. When they returned and mentioned this to the Prophet, he asked why the man did so. The man replied:
“Because it contains the description of the Most Merciful, and I love to recite it.”
The Prophet said, “Tell him that Allah loves him.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 7375)
