Revelation

Surah Alam Nashrah, also called Surah Ash-Sharh, was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during a difficult time. It comforted him and reminded him that after every hardship comes ease from Allah. This message reassured him that his struggles were temporary and that better days would follow.

The Surah also uplifted the believers who faced persecution, encouraging them to stay strong in their faith and trust Allah’s plan. For all of us, it teaches patience, perseverance, and trust in Allah’s wisdom, showing that trials are part of life, but relief will always come.

Hadith

Anas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“When Allah wants good for his slave, He hastens his punishment in the world. And when He wants bad for His slave, He withholds his sins from him until he appears before Him on the Day of Judgement.”

And with this (same) chain, (it was reported) from the Prophet (ﷺ) who said: “Indeed greater reward comes with greater trial. And indeed, when Allah loves a people He subjects them to trials, so whoever is content, then for him is pleasure, and whoever is discontent, then for him is wrath.”

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2396

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If Allah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5645
