Dua for Protection from Hypocrisy (Nifaq)

Dua for protection from hypocrisy (nifaq) is essential in safeguarding one’s faith and integrity in Islam.

In Islam, nifaq means hypocrisy. It is when someone pretends to be good but hides evil intentions. It is the opposite of true faith.

In Islam, hypocrisy is when someone pretends to be a Muslim or claims to have faith but secretly does not believe or speak against Islam. This is called nifāq (نفاق) in Arabic. People who act this way are called munafiqun (منافقون), meaning “hypocrites.”

Dua for Iman & Cure for Hypocrisy

Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba’da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmatan innaka anta al-Wahhab

Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

(Surah Ali ’Imran 3:8)

Seeking Refuge from Division, Hypocrisy, and Bad Character

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشِّقَاقِ وَالنِّفَاقِ وَسُوءِ الْأَخْلَاقِ

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ash-shiqaq wa-n-nifaq wa su’i al-akhlaq

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from division, hypocrisy, and bad character.

Dua for Removing Hypocrisy

Allahumma tahhir qalbi min an-nifaq, wa ‘amali min ar-riya’, wa lisani min al-kadhib, wa ‘ayni min al-khiyana. Fa innaka ta‘lamu khainata’l a‘yun, wa ma tukhfis-sudur

(O Allah! Purify my heart of hypocrisy, and my deeds from showing off, and my tongue from lying, and my eyes from betraying trust (looking at the forbidden). For indeed, You know what the eyes betray, and what is hidden deep in the breasts)

Umm Ma’bad said she heard God’s messenger say, “O God, purify my heart from hypocrisy, my action from vain show, my tongue from falsehood, and my eyes from wrongful glances, for Thou knowest the surreptitious looks of the eyes and what is concealed in the breasts.”

(Baihaqi transmitted the two traditions in [Kitab] ad-Da’awat al-Kabir, Mishkat al-Masabih 2501)

Which surah protects from hypocrisy?

Surah Al-Munafiqun, or “The Hypocrites,” is the chapter of the Quran that deals with the topic of hypocrisy.

What It Covers

This Surah strongly criticizes hypocrisy and exposes the treachery of hypocrites. It warns the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Muslims to be cautious of hypocrites, who pretend to be loyal but are actually working against Islam from within.

When It Was Revealed

The Surah was revealed either during the Prophet’s return from the campaign against the Bani al-Mustaliq tribe or shortly after his arrival back in Madinah.

How It Describes Hypocrites

In the Quran, hypocrites are portrayed as being even more dangerous to Muslims than open enemies of Islam. They are disloyal and seek to harm Islam by pretending to be believers while secretly working to undermine it.

In short, Surah Al-Munafiqun serves as a warning against the danger of hypocrisy and teaches Muslims to be vigilant against those who may betray them from within.
