Revelation

Surah Fussilat was revealed in Makkah, before the migration (Hijrah) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Madinah. Verses 1-3

These verses stress the importance of belief in Allah and avoiding disbelief. They explain the rejection faced by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from his people and how Allah will support those who follow the truth.

Verses 19-21

On the Day of Judgment, the disbelievers will be gathered in Hell. Their own bodies, including their skin, ears, and eyes, will testify against them for rejecting the truth and committing sins. They will be surprised by this and ask why their body parts are testifying, to which they will be told that Allah made everything capable of speaking, and it is His will that their bodies testify.

Verses 22-25

The disbelievers will face the consequences of their rejection of Allah’s signs. They lived in ignorance and sinned against Allah, and now they will regret their choices. Even if they try to be patient in Hell, the punishment will be unbearable and unending, and they will never escape from it.

Verses 26-32

In contrast, the believers who remain firm in their faith (“Our Lord is Allah”) will receive comfort from the angels, who will tell them not to fear or grieve. They will be rewarded with Paradise, a place of eternal peace and blessings, where they will have everything they desire. This shows Allah’s mercy and care for His faithful servants.

Verses 33-35

The best people are those who call others to the path of Allah, do good deeds, and declare their submission to Him. Those who respond to evil with kindness and patience will be rewarded with even greater rewards. Their actions can turn enemies into friends, promoting peace and understanding.

Verses 36-41

Allah emphasizes that responding to evil with good requires patience and virtue. Only those who possess great patience and righteousness will be able to act in such a noble manner. This behavior leads to closeness to Allah and great rewards, as it reflects the high moral standards of a believer.

Verses 42-43

The Qur’an is clear, and no falsehood can corrupt or defeat it. It is a divine message, guiding people to the truth. Despite the disbelievers’ rejection, the Qur’an will always remain pure and a source of guidance.

Verses 44-46

Even if the Qur’an had been revealed to angels or a mountain, it would have humbled them. Yet, the disbelievers’ hearts remain hard, and they refuse to accept the truth, leading to severe consequences for their rejection.

Protection for the Believers (Verses 47-49)

Allah protects the believers and grants them peace. Those who remain steadfast in their faith will be rewarded with Paradise, while those who turn away from the truth will face Allah’s displeasure.

The Eternal Reward for the Righteous (Verses 50-53)

Believers who are patient and act righteously will receive rewards beyond imagination. In Paradise, they will experience eternal joy, comfort, and security, with Allah’s mercy and kindness.

The Signs of Allah (Verses 54-56)

Allah reminds the disbelievers of His signs in the universe, which should lead them to recognize His greatness. Those who reject these signs will face consequences, but those who accept them and turn to Allah will find mercy and protection.
