Surah Kahf in English with Transliteration

Surah Kahf, the 18th chapter of the Quran, translates to “The Cave” and is considered an early Meccan surah, revealed before the Prophet Muhammad migrated to Medina.

Surah Al-Kahf holds a unique place in Islamic tradition due to its profound messages and the special virtues associated with it. Here are more important aspects:

Virtues of Reciting Surah Al-Kahf:

  • Protection from the Dajjal: As mentioned in hadiths, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized that whoever memorizes or recites the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the trial of the Dajjal (Antichrist). This protection is significant because Dajjal’s trial is considered one of the greatest tests of faith.
  • Light on the Day of Judgment: It is also narrated that those who recite Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays will be blessed with light (nur) that extends from one Friday to the next. This light is symbolic of divine guidance and blessings in both the worldly life and the Hereafter.

Hadiths on Surah Al-Kahf:

Abud-Darda’ (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the trial of Ad-Dajjal (Antichrist).”

In another narration, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stated, “Whoever memorizes the last ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will also be protected from the trial of Ad-Dajjal (Antichrist).”Reference

Abu Sa’īd al-Khudrī reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf as it was revealed will have a light on the Day of Resurrection that extends from his position to Makkah. Additionally, whoever recites the last ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf and then encounters Al-Dajjal will not be harmed by him.
