Surah Muzammil Audio Mp3

Surah Al-Muzammil, the 73rd chapter of the Quran, was revealed in Mecca during the early days of Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) mission. The title “Al-Muzammil” means “the one wrapped in a cloak,” referring to the Prophet during his night prayers.

This Surah highlights the importance of night prayer (Tahajjud) as a source of strength for the Prophet, preparing him for the challenges of spreading Islam. It encourages patience in the face of opposition and reminds believers to balance worship and daily responsibilities, relying on Allah for support and guidance.

Revelation

Surah Al-Muzammil was revealed in Mecca, at the beginning of Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) mission. At that time, the Prophet was starting to receive guidance from Allah and facing strong opposition from the people of Mecca. This Surah helped strengthen him by encouraging him to pray at night (Tahajjud) and trust in Allah. It taught him to be patient and stay strong while spreading the message of Islam.

Brief explanation of the Surah Muzammil

Verses 1-4:

Allah calls the Prophet “Al-Muzammil,” meaning “the one wrapped in a garment” (referring to the Prophet when he would cover himself in a blanket during prayer). Allah instructs him to stand up and pray during the night, but not for the whole night, only a portion of it. This night prayer (Tahajjud) is a way to strengthen his connection with Allah.

Verses 5-7:

Allah reminds the Prophet that He will reveal heavy responsibilities, meaning the message of Islam, which will be challenging. Praying at night will give the Prophet the strength to carry this heavy burden. The night is peaceful, which allows deep focus, while the day is busy with life’s activities.

Verses 8-9:

Allah tells the Prophet to remember and praise Him often, devoting himself completely to Allah. Allah is the Lord of the east and west, controlling everything, so worship should be only for Him.

Verses 10-14:

Allah advises the Prophet to be patient with those who deny or oppose him. Instead of responding to them, leave their punishment to Allah. These people will face the consequences of their rejection on the Day of Judgment. Allah describes the severe punishment awaiting them if they don’t believe.

Verses 15-19:

Allah reminds the people that He sent a messenger (Prophet Musa/Moses) to Pharaoh, but Pharaoh rejected the message and was punished. This serves as a warning to those who reject the Prophet Muhammad’s message. If they continue in disbelief, they too will face punishment.

Verse 20:

Allah acknowledges that it is difficult for the Prophet and the believers to pray at night, especially with other responsibilities. So, Allah makes it easier by allowing them to pray as much as they are able. Allah encourages them to recite the Quran, pray, and give charity. In the end, Allah is forgiving and merciful.
